The cycling community in Cape Town is mourning the passing of fellow cyclist and Curator of the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, Philip le Roux. He passed away in hospital earlier today. The avid cyclist was seriously injured two weeks ago when he crashed into a car while cycling down Suikerbossie in Hout Bay. CEO of Pedal Power Association, Robert Vogel, has described him as an influential person who was dedicated to good causes: “I know him since 2013. I was involved with a trail building initiative through Kirstenbosch and we started talking about that project. Philip is a very keen cyclist he really liked the idea and he went to his board of the Botanical Society and put the proposal forward and it was approved.”
