The EFF says it has opened a case against a farmer in Ward nine of the Witzenberg municipality of the Western Cape, who allegedly prevented them from campaigning on his farm Kromfontein this week. The EFF says in a statement, an email was sent to the farmer notifying him of their visit, but he refused them access. He allegedly barricaded the farm gates with bakkies and tractors and also sent security guards with guns and dogs to intimidate them. A by-election is taking in Ward nine later this month. The EFF has also called on the Independent Electoral Commission to intervene. In the 2016 municipal elections, the EFF garnered six percent of the vote in this ward. The ANC got 48 percent and the DA 33 percent.
