The famliy of the late anti-apartheid activist, Imam Abdullah Haron, has called on the State to reopen the inquest into his death. Haron was killed while in police custody under apartheid laws. No one has ever been arrested or sentenced for his death. This is the 50th anniversary of the killing of the Imam and his family has announced in Cape Town they want the inquest into his death reopened. His daughter, Fatima Haron-Masoet says her family will be working with the South Africa’s Human Rights Commission in dealing with the matter. Haron was arrested in May in 1969 and died in September 1969 after 123 days of being held incommunicado.
