The five million rand Sun Met, the oldest horse race event in the country, is underway at the Kenilworth Race Course in Cape Town. Race favourite is ‘Do It Again’, who won the Durban July as well as the Queen’s Plate early this month. The event is as much about the horses as it is about the fashion, good food and socializing. It is being attended by some of the who’s who in South Africa’s entertainment industry. The theme for Africa’s Richest Race Day is African Luxury with Precious Metals. In contrast to last year’s theme, which brought Kenilworth Racecourse to life in shweshwe textures and African-inspired prints, the 2019 Sun Met promises to be just as glamorous. The Sun Met is celebrated with G.H. Mumm.
