The Ford Motor Company’s legal counsel, Andre Bezuidenhout, says he is planning to call…

The Ford Motor Company’s legal counsel, Andre Bezuidenhout, says he is planning to call more than 40 witnesses in the inquest into the death of Reshall Jimmy. Jimmy died in December 2015 when hisFord Kuga motor vehicle caught alight in the Wilderness in the Western Cape. Since his death more than 80 Ford Kugas have caught alight on the country’s roads. The inquest which has been brought by Lobby Group Afriforum, to ascertain whether anyone should be held liable for Jimmy death, kicked off in the High Court in Cape Town yesterday but was postponed to the 18th of March. Advocate Bezuidenhout argued that there were outstanding witness statements that could be of value to the inquest: “The witnesses identified are not those that FORD has scratched out from somewhere. These witnesses who were first ones the scene where identified in the case docket. They were in the investigating officer’s diary, their details appear there.” Advocate Bezuidenhout also argued that there were outstanding witness statements which could be of value to the inquest.”
