The High court in Cape Town has dismissed the application for leave to appeal…

The High court in Cape Town has dismissed the application for leave to appeal yesterday’s ruling that denied bail to convicted murderer, Jason Rohde,. The application was lodged pending the hearing of his appeal against his conviction and sentencing. Judge Gayaat Salie-Hlophe says the court is not persuaded by the defence’s argument that another court might come to a different conclusion. Yesterday, Judge Salie-Hlophe ruled that granting Rohde bail was not in the interests of justice. Rohde’s lawyers say they will petition the Supreme court of Appeal in Bloemfontein on the bail application matter on an urgent basis. Rohde is currently serving 20 years in jail for murdering his wife Susan three years ago. The Supreme Court of Appeal granted him leave to appeal his sentence last month.

  1. Let’s hope the court rules his previous sentence was too lenient and sentences him to life. That will be Justice for Susan.
