The N7 highway has been re-opened following early morning protest action in the vicinity of Moorreesburg in the Swartland area. Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says traffic officials are still on the scene, while police members are also assisting them in maintaining law and order. Africa says they now have brought the situation under control, following protest earlier where a number of people barricaded the busy highway: “This morning we closed the N7 in both directions, from the Cape Town side the road was closed at Abbotsdale and from the Moorreesburg side we closed the road and re-directed traffic on to the Klipheuwel road. By 06h15 we re-opened the N7 in both directions. The protest action is now inside Westbank in Malmesbury.”
