The New Nation Movement says it will ask for the May 8 elections to…

The New Nation Movement says it will ask for the May 8 elections to be postponed if it the court agrees with it that independent candidates should be allowed to stand for election. The organisation has applied to the Western Cape High Court to declare as invalid the section of the Electoral Act that allows only for political parties to field candidates in the provincial and national elections. Judge Siraj Desai postponed the matter until the 17th of April for judgment. Bulelani Mkohliswa is the spokesperson of the movement: “When you are putting a cross, it’s more like signing a contract of 5 years. And you have no recourse. If the parliamentarians are taking certain decisions you have no recourse as an ordinary voter who does not want to be part of a political party system. So we believe that if the elections are to be postponed, even by 3 months because the Constitution allows that and to find remedies that should what should take place.”

  1. I wonder how legitimate is this.Im worried this might just be the delaying tactic being indirectly played by those who feel that their victory is no longer guaranteed

  2. Yazi senziwa into zodlala nje ngababantu. If its not chriminals its something else and now this. Can y’all get along and create 1 party, at least by that you will have more brains to use and debate way foreward instead of ipotsoyi eniyenzayo epalamente.
