The newly appointed Western Cape Community Safety Minister, Alan Winde, says he will be…

The newly appointed Western Cape Community Safety Minister, Alan Winde, says he will be fighting for honest and professional policing. Winde will replace Dan Plato who’s in line to become Cape Town’s new mayor once Patricia de Lille steps down at the end of the month. Winde will serve until next year’s general elections after being nominated by the DA to become the province’s next premier. He says he is looking forward to his new role.” There are thousands of parents burying their children through gangsterism in our province. We have communities living in fear. We are not safe in our public transport system. We are not safe in our homes. And safety is a very very big issue for everyone that lives in this province and so I want to really get a bit more involved with trying to ensure that this is a safer province.” The ANC in the Western Cape says Premier Helen Zille’s provincial cabinet reshuffle does not represent equality. Provincial Secretary of the ANC, Faiez Jacobs, says they are of the view that the new ministers will do nothing to reduce poverty and crime in the province.
