The newly formed political party representing the taxi industry nationally, the Alliance for Transformation…

The newly formed political party representing the taxi industry nationally, the Alliance for Transformation for All or ATA, has not ruled out the possibility of co-governing with other political parties after the general elections on the 8th of May. The party officially launched its national manifesto at Khayelitsha’s Mandela Park Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday. ATA says with more than a million registered taxis in the country and generating 15 billion rand a year, the industry can not be ignored. ATA’s presidential spokesperson Sabelo Dumezweni says the taxi industry employs a great number of drivers, office administrators and general workers .”We are a party of the people entrenched in the communities, we wake up communities and sends them to work, we are the ambulances of our communities, our people must vote for us. The benefit is not for the taxi industry, it is to them the communities.”
