The Rural and Farmworkers Development Organisation says a ruling made by the High Court…

The Rural and Farmworkers Development Organisation says a ruling made by the High Court in Cape Town today on the Klein Akker farm dwellers in Kraaifontein represents war on the poor. The court has ordered the city to make temporary housing available for affected families within 24 hours at Kampies in Phillipi. About 300 people were evicted this week for illegally occupying private land. The organisation says the area where they are being moved to is a dumping site. They say the judge should have done an in loco inspection to see for himself the conditions of the area before making his ruling. The city says it ready to help affected families.
