The SACP in the Western Cape says the recently announced interim committee of the ANC in the province represents “an old wine in a new bottle”. ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule, announced the interim structure that will be led by former MP Lerumo Kalako in the run up to the provincial congress to be held within nine months. The interim structure of 15 men and 15 women include former provincial leaders Ebrahim Rasool, James Ngculu, Lynne Brown and Marion Gillion. SACP Provincial Secretary, Benson Ngqentsu has critised the composition of the interim committee, saying some of them plunged the ANC into paralysis before: “As the SACP in the Western Cape we believe that the list the ANC put together represents nothing but a recycling of all those who have been part of the declining ANC in the province. The credibility of some of these provincial task team members is questionable and therefore bringing them back will sink it even deeper into crisis.”
