The South African National Taxi Council says most taxi associations across the country will…

The South African National Taxi Council says most taxi associations across the country will not hike their fares, despite an increase in the fuel price at midnight. SANTACO spokesperson, Thabisho Molelekwa, says fare prices have already been increased in August. He says however that there are associations that are still in the process of rolling out the August increase. “In some instances they have already been implemented, in some they’re still busy. Some associations are still engaging with the communities in which they operate to afford them the opportunity to prepare themselves for the adjustment. We’ve taken a decision that the increases we have affected in August will only last until next year June when we will review them with another possible increase.”
