The South African Social Security Agency, SASSA, has warned the public to be aware of fraudsters selling SASSA cards on social media. SASSA media spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi says the public should be not to be tempted to try and buy those cards. Letsatsi has also warned beneficiaries not to give their ID numbers, PIN or SASSA card numbers to strangers. He has also urged members of the public to report such incidents to the police or alert SASSA: “South African Social Security agency will in no stage sell a card to anybody secondly beneficiaries are warned not to buy these cards because they have been deactivated and is not functional they wont be funds in that card. However, if they are caught in position of that card they face the possibilities of being arrested.”
