The Western Cape Education Department is hosting a conference this week to discuss challenges facing the education system in the province. They include addressing issues of school safety and gansterism and improving literary and numeracy levels and the professional development of teachers. The conference is hosted under theme “Education Conversations for the Future”. Provincial head Brian Schreuder says the aim is to recognise these challenges, but also understand that educators have to prepare learners for the 21st century.
