A large section of the crowd that attended the grand celebration of Sri Swami Sivananda’s birthday celebration.
More than 2500 people attended the 131st birthday anniversary of the Divine Master, Sri Swami Sivananda, who is the founder of the Divine Life Society.
Devotees from China, India, United Kingdom, Germany and the United States of America participated in the 41 day recital of the Sri Hanunam Chalisa.
The momentous celebration which was held over two days, took place at Sivanandashram and at the Sivananda International Cultural Centre.
The first function was held at the Sivanandashram, which commenced with a morning session from 6am, and was followed by akhanda chanting (continuous chanting) until 2:30pm.
In the evening, ganga arati began at 4pm and satsang commenced at 4:30pm.
Day two of the celebrations marked the culmination of the 41 day recital of the Sri Hanuman Chalisa, which was launched in August.
The chanting began at 6am, followed by havan, as prescribed at 7am.
Breakfast was served thereafter branches of the Divine Life Society of SA and various groups participated in a march past at the Sivananda Stadium.
