A 53-year-old man, who allegedly murdered a mother and her daughter in the Tongaat area, handed himself over to police in Pietermaritzburg, yesterday.
Provincial police spokeswoman, Col Thembeka Mbhele said he was then transferred to the Tongaat police station where he will be charged with two counts of murder.

“A licensed firearm, suspected to be used during the shooting, was also recovered. The suspect is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court soon,” she added.
On Monday, October 7, 2018 at about 7:40am, the bodies of the two women were found in their house at the Magwaveni area with gunshot wounds.
The 33-year-old daughter and her 70-year-old mother were shot and killed in what is believed to be a domestic-related incident.

A case of murder was opened at the Tongaat police station and detectives began with their investigation, which eventually resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
