Tongaat police praised for arresting heroin vendor

Tongaat police officers arrested a 32-year-old man after he was found in possession of heroin in Belvedere, last Tuesday.
It is alleged that the Community Service Centre team of Tongaat SAPS arrested the suspect, following complaints from members of the public regarding a man selling heroin on Saxton Street in Belvedere.

Acting upon information received from several members of the public, W/O Zain Ismail and Cnst Simangaliso  Hlangu patrolled the streets of Belvedere, before spotting a man who fitted the same description they received.
The officers searched the suspect and found 233 capsules of heroin with an estimated street value of R5, 800.

The suspect was then arrested and detained at the Tongaat SAPS.

The heroin vendor is expected to appear in the Verulam Court on February 13.
Station commander of Tongaat SAPS, Col Santha Moodley, commended the team on a job well done. “This arrest will serve as a strong warning to perpetrators of crime,” he said.
