A 51-year-old Tongaat man was allegedly murdered following a drive-by shooting in Magwaveni, Tongaat, last Friday.
The driver of a black VW Polo vehicle was travelling on Greylands Road, when occupants of another alleged red VW GTI vehicle came to a halt and opened fire at the driver.

The occupant of the black VW Polo was later identified as a popular taxi owner in the Tongaat area.
Emergency services, together with the Tongaat SAPS, rushed to the scene and found the body of the taxi owner gruesomely inflicted with bullet wounds.
The Gandhi’s Hill resident allegedly had taxis running in the Shakaskraal and around the Ballito area.
Emergency services assessed the victim and found that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and face.
Police recovered 9mm bullet casings were found scattered near the victim’s vehicle on Greylands Road, near Fairbreeze Secondary School.

Speaking to the Phoenix Sun, Tongaat SAPS spokesman, Cpt Patrick Ngwane, said that a murder docket was opened at Tongaat police station.
“The motive of the murder is not known at this stage, but the Tongaat SAPS, together with the KZN Taxi Violence Unit, are working tirelessly to uncover sketchy details. No arrests have been made but it is suspected that the murder is a taxi-related crime,” Cpt Ngwane said.
