Two men arrested on charges of fraud and corruption related to vehicle licensing scams in September are expected to be back in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court today. Godfrey Malungu and Chadrick Farao were arrested last month after an investigation by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation Unit together with the Department of Transport and Public Works. It linked them to a syndicate implicated in processing fraudulent vehicle roadworthy certificates. The vehicles were allegedly exempted from being physically tested in exchange for bribes. Both accused are out on two-thousand-rand bail. They are expected to appear with four co-accused who were arrested in August.
