#VDStelsPassFire #Elgin #Nuweberg #goFPA update 12.00 28/1/19
This #wildfire is still not contained but fortunately where containment was reported yesterday – VDStelPass and Eerste Hoop – the lines are holding.
The Fire Services and community are again out there and doing their best to limit damage and working towards containment.
IMT confirms the N2 and R321 is currently open.
Through sheer hard work, commitment and expertise, structural and economic damage caused by this fire has been mostly limited to the forestry industry, certain water supply lines and fencing. CapeNature will report on the severe ecological damage at a later stage.
NO reported HOMES lost or damaged to date. Agricultural lands affected are to uncultivated fields and some outlying windbreaks. It is business as usual for the Elgin valley and this is due to their amazing cooperation and “never-give-up” attitude. They are very grateful (and amazed) by the support received from all over the region.
Currently two significant injuries have been reported – a motor vehicle accident involving an IMT member (leg injury to passenger of the other car, who was transported to a medical facility) and slight burn wounds to a member of the fire fighting team
