The police have asked for the public’s help in tracking down a woman in connection with a baby girl found abandoned in Sunnyside.
The three-week-old was found in a handbag in Jorrissen Street on the evening of 21 January.
“The woman is known as Lebogang Botolo,” said police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela.
Mavimbela said a warrant has been issued for her arrest on charges of child neglect.
Botolo is believed to be still in Pretoria.

Mavimbela said the baby was discharged from hospital a week after she was found.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Botolo can contact Warrant Officer Gerard Henning of the SAPS family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit on 071-675-7489 or their nearest police station.
Mavimbela urged parents, who did not wish to keep their newborns to use the “baby bins” available 24/7 on the corners of Spuy and Vos streets as well as Steve Biko and Jorrissen streets.
