The Verulam SAPS team made a number of drug and firearm-related arrests during recent stop and search operations.
W/O Ugeshen Philips, together with his fellow police officers, from the Crime Prevention Unit, were conducting vehicle patrols when they noticed a suspicious vehicle being driven at high speed and a chase ensued for several kilometres until the vehicle was brought to a stop.

The vehicle was searched by the team and found two revolvers and five rounds of live ammunition in each firearm, as well as 50 additional rounds of ammunition in the vehicle.
The driver could not account for the firearms. He was arrested and charged for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Cpt Henry Kisten, communications officer of Verulam SAPS, said, “There were another four arrests effected for possession of heroin tablets during the stop and search operations.”
W/O Philips and his team were commended by the station commander, Brig Dludla, for showing dedication and commitment in effecting arrests for firearm and drug-related offences.
