Verulam SAPS arrest 48 for various crime offences

The liquor seized from establishments who have been selling it without a licence.

A number of arrests were made in a joint operation between Verulam SAPS detectives and the Crime Prevention Unit, under the command of the station commander, Brig Victor Dludla, recently.
Cpt Henry Kisten, communications officer of Verulam SAPS, said 18 suspects were arrested for drug-related offences whereby heroin capsules and cocaine powder were seized.

Other arrests included six for the possession of dangerous weapons as knives were seized. Seven were arrested for cases of theft and three for dealing in liquor without a license.
There were also arrests made for the possession of counterfeit cigarettes as well as others. The total number of arrests during the operation was 48.

Station commander, Brig Dludla, applauded the police officers for committing themselves and showing dedication during the course in effecting so many arrests.
He also noted there was a decrease in serious crimes being reported and attributed it to the high police visibility shown.
