A wanted suspect, who was allegedly involved in a murder and hijacking incident, was shot and killed during a shootout with police, recently.
He was identified as 25-year-old Mtshengiseni Chonco.

His 35-year-old accomplice were arrested by police and charged for attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen property and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Provincial police spokesman, Lt Col Thulani Zwane said on the day, Msinga police officers were conducting crime prevention duties in the rural area when they received information regarding suspects, who were wanted for murder and hijacking.
“The police officers followed up on the information and identified the house. While approaching the house, it is alleged that the suspects began shooting towards the police,” he said.
The police returned fire, fatally wounded Chonco. Police also found two unlicensed pistols, ammunition, cellphones and credit cards, suspected to be taken during the hijacking incident.

Lt Col Zwane confirmed that the seized firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to establish if they were used in any other crimes within the province.
The arrested man appeared in court.
