IT was the final send-off that 30-year-old spinner Richard “Boeta” Simons would have wanted.A maroon gusheshe drove into the circle and spun around the hearse in the middle of a stadium. Then the coffin was brought to the centre as the hearse drove away. Mourners were heard cheering and whistling as another white BMW 3 Series joined to spin around the coffin, surrounded by pallbearers in Heidedal kasi, Mangaung. Other people were hanging from car windows and doing what Boeta loved doing best. Boeta was driving from Welkom to Bloemfontein when he was involved in a crash last Sunday. He was certified dead at the scene. He was apparently planning to get married this year. Yvonne Radiboke posted the video. The post had more than 390 shares with many saying Richard was a legend.Anastacia Stacey wrote: “Wow. Goosebumps all over my body. RIP Boeta!”Chabedi Moletsane wrote: “That was a proper send-off.”Samons Jacobs said Boeta was good at fixing BMWs. “We not only lost the greatest car spinner but a man who could identify and fix the problem. This is so sad.”Johnnie Brits said Boeta deserved to be buried in a way he would have liked.
