WATCH: Firefighters from across SA gather for conference in Kempton

Clr Vivian Chauke, MMC for Community Safety in Ekurhuleni, also attended the three-day conference.

Emperors Palace hosted firefighters from across Gauteng and other South African provinces during the bi-annual Public Information Education and Relationship conference from March 18-20.
According to Neo Lesethe, spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Centre, the three-day conference mainly focused on fire prevention and new ways to save lives. “We need to find innovative ways for our members to keep our communities safe,” Lesethe told Express.

Representatives from Gauteng, as well as parts of the North-West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga joined to share their knowledge.

An honorary guest was Dr Cindy Fuller from The Learning Centre at Appalachian Regional Health System in the United States of America. Fuller travelled from North Carolina to speak to local fire responders about fire risk reduction and the future of fire safety in South Africa.
“South Africa is very fortunate to have such dedicated individuals working in their emergency services,” she told Express. “They know that life is precious and that fire prevention is key.”
Other esteemed guests during the conference included Dikgang Uhuru Moiloa, MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements in Gauteng, Clr Vivian Chauke, MMC for Community Safety in Ekurhuleni, and Dr Elias Sithole, Head of Provincial Disaster Management Gauteng.
William Ntladi, spokesperson for Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Services, Dr Cindy Fuller from The Learning Centre at Appalachian Regional Health System in the USA, and Neo Lesethe, spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Centre.

Dikgang Uhuru Moiloa, MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements in Gauteng, and Dr Elias Sithole, Head of Provincial Disaster Management Gauteng, were esteemed guests at the three-day conference in Kempton Park.
