Western Cape Premier elect, Alan Winde, says the DA’s victory in the province is…

Western Cape Premier elect, Alan Winde, says the DA’s victory in the province is an emotional moment for him. The provincial IEC has concluded the capturing of votes, with a few batches still outstanding. With 99 percent of votes counted, the DA has garnered 55-percent of the vote, the ANC 28-percent and EFF four percent. The party says its humbled to have been given a mandate to extend its governance in the Western Cape.”t doesn’t matter who you voted for in this election, if you are in the Western Cape, we are there for you. We are going to have to take what we have done in the last ten years, build the foundation, started to change things, and i think we have got to be far and wide in this province. We got to get a good understanding of where it’s hurting, what the big issues are. I am proud of what we delivered, but also see what needs to be done and we have a lot to do.” The ANC in the province say they have to go back to the drawing board after facing another bruising defeat in the province. The party’s provincial chairperson, Faiez Jacobs, says they must regroup. “We accept the defeat, acknowledge mistakes, we may not resonate with everybody, but will build on this and ensure come 2021 we are ready.” The Economic Freedom Fighters have vowed to push ahead with their core message of land distribution and economic transformation. Melikahaya Xego says the reason that some parties such as the Freedom Front plus have increased, is because the EFF ave raised the issue of land. “We will definitely take them on in terms of free quality education as well as the issue of service delivery in the different areas where our people are still living destitute.”
