A woman was left traumatised after a house robbery and attempted rape at her home in Phoenix, on Wednesday.
The victim alleged she was alone in her home between noon and 1pm when an unknown man entered through the back door which was left open.

The suspect produced a knife and ransacked the house.
He then forcefully took the complainant upstairs, ransacked the bedrooms, then attempted to rape the victim.
She could not scream as her mouth and hands were bound with rags.
Cpt Louise Naidoo, communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, said, “Items taken included cash and jewellery. The victim was taken by ambulance to Umhlanga Hospital.

Her blood pressure and sugar levels were high.
“The issue of attempted rape was confirmed by the victim’s husband, who accompanied her to the hospital. The scene was attended by Cpt Chili and Sgt Mpisi. Fingerprinting and touch DNA testing has been done. No arrests have been made yet,” she added.
