Phoenix Durban

Over the last few weeks, the Phoenix police station has been inundated with a number of robbery cases, during which women were specifically targeted.
In the first incident, the victim jumped off a taxi at Fernham, Westham and was proceeding to board another taxi to go to the Phoenix Industrial Park when she noticed three unknown men approaching her.
One of them withdrew a firearm and demanded her to hand over her cellphone and money. The remaining two suspects searched the victim and stole her Samsung cellphone and R100 in cash.

According to communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, Cpt Louise Naidoo, the armed suspect pointed the firearm at her head.
“When they were done searching her, they fled the scene on foot. The victim just stood there shocked and afraid. Once they were out of her sight, she ran to a school and staff assisted her in contacting the police,” she explained.
In the second incident, another victim alleged that she was walking along Avonford, Sunford. She was approached by a woman, who enquired about a driving school.
The victim stated that she does not know of any such driving school.

“The woman said she knows that she is carrying an amount of R2, 000 cash and was surprised as to how she knew what amount of cash she was carrying with her. Suddenly, another woman appeared and demanded for her handbag. She pulled out a knife and the woman forcefully took the complainant’s handbag, which contained the R2, 000 cash, various certificates, IDs, a Samsung J1 Ace Neo cellphone, valued at R1500 and her bank cards,” added Cpt Naidoo.
These incidents also come after a common robbery occurred at a mosque mosque parking lot.
