Schools, Teachers, Parents and Government need to get involved in curbing obductions and protecting learners at schools
A group of Vanguard Primary School learners say they fled from a motorist earlier this morning, who was allegedly taking photographs of them, while they were on their way to school. Principal Howard February has assured the public that none of the children were taken, despite messages on WhatsApp being circulated, claiming that two children had been kidnapped. According to February, one learner ran straight to the school grounds whilst the others ran to a nearby surgery. He says the scholar patrol supervisor on duty witnessed the incident and immediately took the registration of the vehicle. Local police were also called in to assist. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut was not immediately available for comment.
“It was not clear whether there was any intent on the taking of the photographs. Learners were wearing fancy dress costumes for civvies day today, so it is not clear whether they were taking photos out of interest or for any other reason,” director of communications for the WCED, Bronagh Hamonnd.
