GAUTENG Human Settlements MEC Uhuru Moiloa handed over new houses to residents. The department handed over 50 houses to residents in Kagiso extension 13 on Tuesday.Moiloa was accompanied by Mogale City mayor Patrick Lipudi and councillors.Moiloa thanked the community of Kagiso for their patience and for giving government time to identify and confirm beneficiaries.“Identifying child-headed families and individuals who have been on the housing list was a lengthy process for both local and provincial governments,” said Moiloa. “I’d also like to thank Lipudi and his team for their patience and support in making it possible for the provincial government to deliver houses to the needy.” He discouraged beneficiaries from selling or renting out the houses.One of the beneficiaries, gogo Rebecca Ndlovu, was happy when she received a key to her house.“I’ve been waiting for this house for many years,” said gogo Rebecca. “At least I have a place called home and my kids will have a roof over their heads.”She thanked the mayor and MEC for responding to their cries for houses.Lipudi promised that over 100 houses will be built in the future.After the event, Lipudi and Moiloa headed to Munsieville, where a housing development near Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital was launched.The development is expected to be completed in nine months’ time.
