The chairman of the Phoenix Widows Support Group, Savy Naidoo along with co-ordinators and members are gleaming with joy following a successful sports day that was hosted at Coconut Grove in Durban, last week.
Naidoo explained that the four support groups of Stanmore, Shastripark, Sunford and Caneside conducted a fantastic job in preparing their teams for the exciting day.
“Sports play a very important role in taking the challenges of life away from the widows. This year, we wanted to do things differently that will make a distinctive mark in the lives of all our members,” she said.
The sports day brought back memories of the early days for the widows.

DLC leader, Cllr Patrick Pillay said that he and his party have always supported Savy Naidoo since she launched the PWSG in 2011.
“The group is doing a fantastic job in raising the challenges and trials of widows,” said Cllr Pillay. He was very impressed with the mascots and the the comradeship shown by every person during the sports event.
“Sports is a very good way of distressing and I want to praise the great work of Savy Naidoo, her co-ordinators and all the members of the PWSG,” he added.
